National Carnival

2007 National Carnival

The big event of the year for MAF is the National Carnival which is played annually, rotating to various State venues. Each year approximately 30 teams in 4 divisions and some 600 players attend the carnival. When umpires, officials and support staff are added the number of participants will easily exceed 750.

The format of the carnival, usually held commencing AFL Grand Final weekend, is spread over 10 days, with games commencing on the 1st Sunday, then the next set of games on the Wednesday followed by the final games on Saturday.

Other events during the week include a dropkick contest, a sprint contest, a Sportsman's Dinner, and finally the Presentation Dinner.

TasMAF Carnival Notes

Rules Familiarisation

It is most important that everyone familiarise themselves with the rules of MAF.
Please click on the link to the National body www.maf.asn.au and take particular note of the alcohol ruling and the swearing rules.
Remember if anyone gets fined $100 - for breach of either of these rules, they will pay the fine not the association.
